Exploring the Possibilities of Breath in Life and Practice

The breath is a companion to life.

In sanskrit the word for breath and life-force are the same: prana. This implies our breath’s interconnectedness the essence of life and the profound effect breath can have on our way of living. There are few practices that can touch deeper into our body than pranayama.

Breath and yogic breath work can be used to focus the mind, release stress, and create well-being.

We will discuss the use of breath’s effect on the emotional and energy state, the use of breath for the benefit of the physical body, and the tools to feel confident in exploring your use of breath-work in your practice and in your life.

We will be exploring Dirgha, Ujayi, Vuloma, Kapalabhati, Nadi Shodana, and Anuloma Vuloma, in the context of active and restorative asana (posture) practices as well as seated. We will discuss the process of each breath, their effects, and times when they are most effectively used.

Come explore a new relationship to breath-work in a practice based workshop.
