The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali define and describe the purpose and results of yoga practice. The process of chanting the sutras invites a unique quality of relationship with the ancient and timeless wisdom presented in these brief and potent aphorisms. The sutras are rich with suggestions that influence our approach to yoga practice, and illuminate how our practice supports us as we navigate the responsibilities of daily life. The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali is the foundational text of many lineages of yoga. Learning to chant the sutras is a wonderful way to refine our pronunciation of Sanskrit terms and broaden our understanding of the depth of the yoga tradition. This series will present the chanting of selected sutras as taught by TKV Desikachar.

The classes will include traditional sutra chanting, presentation and discussion of important concepts and are suitable for inquiring students of all levels. Registered students will receive recordings of selected portions of the class to facilitate on-going practice.

All chant materials will be emailed as pdfs for printing.
These courses are registered with Yoga Alliance for Continuing Education.
